In these cases, follow these steps to connect to the hidden Wi-Fi network:
- Open the Settings app and choose Wi-Fi.
- Tap the Action Overflow and choose Add Network. The item might be titled Add Wi-Fi Network. …
- Type the network name into the Enter the SSID box.
- Choose the security setting.
- Type the password.
To hide the SSIDs, go to Wi-Fi Settings and uncheck “Broadcast this Network name (SSID)” for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Click Save to save the settings as shown in Figure 1. If you wish to unhide the SSIDs, simply check the “Broadcast this Network name (SSID)” for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz and click Save.
However, if you aren’t familiar with these tools, you might want to check out another wireless analyzer or sniffer called CommView for WiFi. Simply start scanning the airwaves with one of these tools. As soon as a packet containing the SSID is sent, you’ll see the so-called hidden network name appear.

A hidden wireless network is a wireless network that isn’t broadcasting its network ID (SSID). Typically, wireless networks broadcast their name, and your PC “listens” for the name of the network that it wants to connect to.
Hiding the network name improves the experience users connecting to wireless networks in dense areas. When network is not intended for public use and does not broadcast its SSID, it will not appear in a list of available networks on clients. This simplifies the choice for users.
1) Scan the WiFi network for hidden cameras using Fing App.
Download the Fing app on the App Store or Google Play. Connect to the WiFi and give the network a scan. All the devices on the network will be revealed with Fing App including details about the device such as MAC address, vendor and model.
Windows 7, Vista:
- Select Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Manage Wireless Networks.
- Click Add > Manually create a network profile.
- Enter the Network name, Security type, Encryption type, and Security Key (password).
- Select Start this connection automatically.
The name or SSID (Service Set Identifier) of the hidden wireless network. The password used by the wireless network. The type of encryption (or security) used by the Wi-Fi network. If the network uses WEP, note the WEP key.
